NZ Romney X sheep for sale

We have approx 60 1-crop / 2-crop ewes, 60 shearlings and 80 ewe lambs for sale.

Genetics from NZ Romney rams from Marcus Maxwell of Viewfield, New Galloway (2005 Sheep Farmer of the Year). All ewes are 1/2 or 3/4 NZ Romney; lambs range from 1/2 to 7/8 NZ Romney.

All performance recorded, with 2 years of records available, including all routine and non-routine treatments, lamb weights at 100 days (ewe milk potential) and 200 days (lamb growth potential), prolificacy, lamb survivability.

Very low lambing intervention rates (approx 2 in each 100, all lambed outdoors). Lambs selected for vigour, high brown fat, small heads and shoulders and quick growth rates.

Ewes have low lameness (approx 1 in 100), high worm tolerance, produce about 4-5kg of second-to-top tier fleece per year. Good mothers, easy to handle.

Shearlings £125

Ewes £100

Ewe lambs £80

Solar eclipse

Solar Eclipse at Willowford Farm B&B on Hadrian's Wall

Today we had a partial solar eclipse, just over 90% at our latitude. For most of the morning we had thick cloud but at around 9.30am it started to thin out and what remained proved to be a perfect veil for viewing the eclipse.

Some guests that were staying with us used a colander to project the eclipse on to a sheet of white paper – each hole in the colander produced a crescent.
